Rachael Thomas
My work is rooted in the belief that joy and beauty are worth paying attention to. I’m drawn to florals and the life that surrounds them, including bees, birds and other small creatures because they invite us to slow down and become present to the beauty that’s so often easily overlooked. Through layered brushwork and a combination of pastel tones and vibrant colors, I aim to create paintings that feel alive, capturing a moment of beauty and cheer. Creating has always been my favorite way to connect with others, and it has become a way for me to push back against the heaviness of the world. I paint for the joy it brings me and with the hope of inviting others to come experience the same joy and beauty.
